Between commissions and my many commitments, I've been trying to build up my portfolio for (slightly) more diverse subject matter. Comics are great, but not every illustration job needs Spider-Man.
Here's a relatively successful effort, I think. Hardest thing here was to strike a balance between the abstract geometric style I use and the likenesses of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. In the end, I chose to accentuate some of their recognisable features from the film, hence the props and the fact that Ed is a zombie.
This is pretty epic. If I had to nitpick anything it'd be the cricket bat. The blood on it seems more painted on and dripping than splattered. I think, also, that the holes in the bat near the hand grip is a bit distracting. They draw your eyes more than they should, especially taking into account the way the hole seems to follow the same contour as the hair at Shaun's part. But, I think that you are on the right track and with a few little tweaks, this could be one of your best pieces. And that's saying something.
This is a different kind of art which I'm not used to seeing, but I can totally see the characters there. I'm a big fan of the film, and I think your work here is brilliant
